I have been exercising a lot lately. I am doing Zumba, African Dance, Aqua-aerobics, and Spin. Next week I might do the Ab Class after Zumba. I feel really good about dancing again, even if it is dancercise and not "real" dance classes.
That's me in May of 2007, dancing in a show in a restaurant in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I would much rather dance in a club or a restaurant, than on a stage. I like interacting with the audience. It much more fun than dancing in front of them. I get self conscious in my African Dance class, because my body doesn't move that way (yet). African Dance is earthy and grounded compared to belly dance, I have to learn to let go. The movements are similar, but the styles are very different.
